Turmeric Ginger Tea

A couple of weeks ago, Just like that, I & Shankar decided to reduce our Caffeine intake to a small extent. The idea was to replace the morning dose with something else. I love my Tea & Coffee & I take it very seriously, so it has been a bit of a challenge for me

Its precisely been 2 weeks & we are doing good so far. I cheated just once But that's OK. I don't plan to give up on them entirely anyways

I need something warm in the mornings to start my day and I don't like drinking Green Tea in the morning. That's how I discovered this amazing Turmeric Root & Ginger Tea

And now that it's winter, Fresh Turmeric Roots are available in plenty So, this Turmeric & Ginger Tea has replaced our Morning Chai & we love it.

While Turmeric has many many health benefits, it increases body heat so make sure you are drinking this only once a day. I am probably going to drink this until spring & will replace it with something else during summers.

See how gorgeous it looks. Earthy, Peppery & Bitter. Not many like it though

Well, this recipe is a no brainer. Everyone knows how to brew Spiced Tea But I like to document what we eat/drink & share it with others :)

You Will Need:

  • A 2 inch piece of Raw Turmeric Root
  • A small piece of Ginger
  • 1 tsp Honey  - I use Manuka Honey *
  • Half a lime
  • 2 cups water
HOW TO:

Grate Turmeric root & ginger & set aside

In a sauce pan, bring 2 cups of water to boil, As the water is heating up, grate Turmeric Root & Ginger & add it to the water. Let the water come to a rolling boil.

Turn off the heat, strain into mugs. Add Honey & a squirt of lime juice. Mix & Enjoy

NOTE:

You can alternatively use Jaggery to sweeten this.
* Manuka honey is produced from the nectar of the Manuka tree & is known to have various health benefits
